GUIDANCE ON FORMAT OF ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

BASEM is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for our annual congress on 26th and 27th May 2022.

The organisers would like to invite submissions covering any clinical aspect of sport and exercise medicine is invited; anything that relates to the health, well-being, function, illness or injury management of patients or athletes.

Researchers may submit their research for consideration of a poster or podium presentation and may also select an award category for which they would like to be considered.

Submission Process

Authors should submit their abstracts as per the instructions below, for consideration of either an e-poster presentation or a podium presentation. At the discretion of the judging committee applicants who apply for a poster presentation offered a podium presentation and vice versa.

When submitting the authors can indicate if they wish their abstract to be considered for any of the conference prizes (if they meet the criteria). Please see the ‘Prizes’ for details of the categories. If authors wish to be considered for a prize then they must also accept BASEM’s Privacy Policy.

GUIDANCE ON FORMAT OF ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Submission of abstracts will be made exclusively on the website through an online form and prepared in a structured format by completing the appropriate fields:

Title
Authors
Affiliations
Corresponding author address and email
Contact details for author who will present if selected
Introduction and Purpose
Material and Methods
Results
Conclusion

Additional guidance

Maximum word count: 300. Names of authors, affiliations and contact details are not counted. Times New Roman, font size 12.
Maximum two tables or figures.
All abbreviations must be specified in the body of the text, when used for the first time.
Please use generic names of drugs. Proprietary name may be put in parentheses.
Make your paper clear enough for people from other disciplines to understand.
Do not include references.
Abstracts should be uploaded in a word format.

Terms and Conditions of Abstract Submission

Abstracts must be submitted according to the instructions in ‘Guidance on Format of Abstract Submission’.
Abstracts submitted after the deadline date will not be accepted.
Abstracts must be unpublished prior to submission.
Abstracts will be anonymised before review by the Scientific Committee.
Abstracts are accepted under the condition that at least the presenting author has paid the full registration fee.
The payment of the registration fee is not associated with the acceptance of the abstract. In case of rejection or withdrawal of an abstract, there will be no reimbursement for the registration fees.
Any author who is accepted and fails to present will be banned from presenting at the conference the following 2 years up to and including conference 2024.
Each main author may submit up to 3 abstracts.
There are no limits for participating as co-author of abstracts
Abstracts that do not meet the format guidelines and number of characters will not be accepted.
Abstracts that have been accepted for submission should have the same content that will be presented at the Conference and the names of authors and affiliations will not be corrected later.
The Scientific Committee’s decisions are final.
The Conference Committee reserves the right to change these terms and conditions and alter prize classification at any stage.

Abstracts that do not meet the above requirements will not be accepted.

Abstract selection criteria & Judging process

All abstracts will be peer reviewed externally and anonymously by members of the conference scientific committee. Abstracts will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

Originality
Appropriate Methodology
Significant Findings and Conclusions
Interest and/or Practical Applications

The judging for prizes will take place at the conference by the scientific committee.

The corresponding author will be informed by email of the acceptance or not of their abstract by Friday 25th MArch 2022. at this point successful applicants will be given further details about the format of their e-poster or presentation.
